Our commitments to environment, safety, and governance are at the core of our values.

As a Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship member, we continue to learn best practices and further our thinking with other like-minded global companies.

Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship

We are continuously improving every aspect of our business — with an emphasis on our sustainable and social impacts.

As we continue our journey, we remain committed to our established manufacturing best practices to minimize our environmental footprint. We've also taken an honest look at the advancements we've made and realize that we can challenge ourselves to do more. This entails establishing new goals and charting the path forward to achieve them.

Mohawk is committed to a 5% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.

Accomplishment of this goal will produce ripples beyond greenhouse gas benefits, effecting reductions in water use and waste generation as well.

We are committed to a sustainable future, we source pulp from sustainable forests, we use recycled fiber, we conserve water, and we harness wind power for our mills’ electrical energy.

Mohawk will report its performance and progress on a broader basis, to span our impact from a social and governance perspective in addition to our environmental impact. At present we are working to align our approach and communications within the framework of our strategic business partners.

Mohawk will publish its first ESG report in 2024.

2023 Environmental Actions

Energy
Beginning in 2022, Mohawk committed resources to establish an on-site energy manager role. A key deliverable from this leadership role is a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions associated with natural gas combustion by our papermaking operations.
Gas
We are reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with natural gas combustion by our papermaking operations. The goal is a 5% reduction over the next two years.
Water
Optimizing manufacturing best practices in a resource-conscious manner for water conservation.
Waste
Reducing our waste generation by producing and distributing products in the most efficient way to shrink our environmental footprint.

Mohawk's social focus in 2023 will be on culture, safety, and community development.

Mohawk is committed to developing the potential of our teams and uplifting our community as we strive for excellence together.

2023 Social Actions

Culture
Mohawk is committed to providing an environment that supports personal and professional development by recognizing the importance of and encouraging a healthy work-life balance.

Mohawk offers a hybrid work schedule and a robust offering of programs to support our employees and their families from physical and mental health resources to financial planning assistance and more.
Safety
Safety is everyone's business at Mohawk, so we carefully monitor all accidents, near misses, and safety reports and work every day to provide continuous training for a safe working environment.

We aim for continuous improvement of our annual OSHA performance for Occupational Illness and Injury Reporting. We strive always for a 2.7% or less OSHA recordable incident rate.
Community
Mohawk has a legacy of giving back to the communities we live and work in.

The Mohawk team has committed to providing 4,000 volunteer hours in 2023 to the non-profits that support our communities.

You Have Our Commitment

Mohawk has endured for generations because we make decisions and innovate new products for the long term, not just the next quarter. And because we care about our community and our environment, we do all this with future generations in mind. Because at our core, we are a company of makers.

Over the last 90 years, we have worked dutifully to find ways to operate our mills in a way that is mindful of our dependence on our essential resources: fiber, water, energy — and our people.

The power of print endures and prevails only when we embrace our responsibility as its stewards and commit ourselves, our resources, employees, and partners, to create new opportunities to grow, evolve, lead, and serve.
